The environmental footprint of population growth

Åpent
The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters, Drammensveien 78, Oslo

The world’s population is continuously growing. How does this growth affect climate change accelerators such as greenhouse-gas emissions? What is the true nature of the relationship between population growth and climate change, and what are the ethical considerations when addressing this relationship?

To illuminate and discuss these questions, The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters has invited Brian O’Neill, Professor in Earth Systems Science at the University of Denver and Convening Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)’s ongoing Sixth Assessment Report, and John Broome, Professor in Moral Philosophy at the University of Oxford and Lead Author for the Fifth Assessment report of the IPCC.

The seminar will take place at The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters, Drammensveien 78, on Thursday September 27th from 18:00 – 20:15. The seminar is open for all and entrance is free.
